Healthy Holiday Snacks

This fall and winter, get healthy — and maybe even a little silly — with holiday-inspired healthy snacks to make with kids.

Banana Snowmen

  • Bananas
  • Peanut butter
  • Carrots
  • Raisins
  • Chocolate chips
  • Wooden skewers
  1. Cut bananas into “coins.”
  2. Slide banana slices onto skewers, three coins per skewer. This is your snowman base!
  3. Have your child decorate their snowman using peanut butter as glue: chocolate chips for eyes, a piece of carrot for the nose and raisins for buttons. Get creative! Try making a peanut butter scarf or a hat made out of a carrot.
  4. Freeze your festive treat for later or enjoy right away!

Reindeer Snacks

  • Red or green apples
  • Small pretzels, broken into pieces
  • Peanut butter
  • Raisins
  • Raspberries or blueberries
  1. Core the apples and cut triangular slices. This will form your reindeer’s head.
  2. Spread peanut butter to sandwich the apple slices together.
  3. Stick a pretzel into the peanut butter filling on either side of the apple slice. These are your reindeer’s antlers!
  4. Use peanut butter to glue raisins for eyes and a red raspberry for the nose.

Holiday Elf Crackers

  • Round crackers
  • Cream cheese
  • Cheese
  • Raisins
  • Salami or ham
  1. For each Elf Cracker, spread a thin layer of cream cheese on the top and bottom of the cracker. Leave the middle dry.
  2. Cut a triangular piece of salami or ham and stick it on the top part of your cracker, over the cream cheese. This is your elf’s hat!
  3. Cut a half-circle shaped piece of cheese and stick it on the bottom half of the cracker, over the cream cheese. This is your elf’s beard!
  4. Use a little cream cheese to “glue” raisins on the cracker for eyes. Voila! A tasty holiday elf!
