Resume templates

Platforms such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs offer a variety of free resume templates, which are user-friendly and easily customizable. Another alternative is Canva, an easy-to-use design platform. Like Google Docs and Word, Canva offers a wide range of resume layouts, with different colors, and fonts. One thing to note, Canva is free, but also has a premium tier, which may charge for some features.

ATS friendly tools

An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is software that is used by employers to manage and streamline their recruitment process. Basically, a system used to screen resumes and cover letters for certain keywords and qualifications. If the system does not find the necessary keywords on your resume, your application may be overlooked.

The good news is, there are free online tools that can help you get past the automated systems. Resume Worded and JobScan are resume optimization tools, which provide feedback and suggestions for improving your resume. By using tools such as these, you’re better able to tailor your resume to the job description, thereby, increasing your chances of getting past the bots, and potentially landing an interview.

 Proofreading Tools

Ensuring your resume is free of errors (like spelling and grammar) is critical when submitting a job application. Utilizing tools like Grammarly can help polish your resume and help you stand out. Grammarly makes it easy to spot and correct errors and write clearly. The best part, you can start using Grammarly for free!
